How Faith in supernatural beings works

I am astonished to find out that most of us tend to believe in unscientific faith systems. Once someone has faith in some ideology, it is the end of discussion for him. His eyes are blinded and his ears are deafened. He will not listen to your side of the story. No matter what proof you present, he will stick to his faith. This was not only the case in primitive tribal people when they started to follow false religions but this supernatural way of thinking is still in place. People of the computer age are no different. They show the same tendencies to have faith in baloney practices as the people of the dark ages had.

I have met many people in my life who are intelligent and capable of understanding the complexities of life. They solve their problems with scientific approach frequently, but when it comes to their belief system they are tend to surrender all their cognitive faculties to a baloney faith system.

People who advocate about extra terrestrial beings and their artwork on earth (CROP CIRCLES) are clear example of Faith victims :)

Notice the like/dislike statistics shown by Youtube. It is interesting to note that the percentage of viewers disliking the second video is higher than the one which alleges alien actions. This may be because it is scientific and presents the plain truth in a rather dry and boring fashion, whereas the first video is more thrilling and appealing to believers… even if it has no basis in truth.

Almost all religions in the world accepted the concept of Witches, Wizards and demons. As being superstitious beliefs system religion promoted these fantasy things. Following is the video from thunder  in response to Christian belief in witches , wizards and demons:

Superstitions: Primitive Legacy Continues in 21st Century

Over the time, we have changed our life style by changing physical world around us. We developed new tools. We made beautiful and strong buildings to live and do businesses. We developed fastest ways of commuting. We created devices for better communication. We discovered depths of universe and invisible world of Atomic particles. After visiting moon we are aiming at other heavenly objects. We are learning about laws of nature and using these understandings to benefit human race.

We did all this because we used combination of imagination and brain. We used our cognitive thinking facilities. We managed to transfer our experiences and knowledge to our next generations and here we are, Rulers of the Earth.

But on the other side, We are still so superstitious that we just see some phenomenons which we can not explain and we tend to accept it as supernatural. We suddenly start to ignore natural laws which are governing this universe and our lives. When we can not find way to explain any phenomena reasonable then we suspend our cognitive thinking and activate our belief system to respond to it.

Our superstitions are closely related to our religious beliefs. Religion being a supernatural belief system make it possible to give space to superstitious things and events in our life.
